Assoc Prof. Dr. Syed Farid Alatas
Department of Sociology, National University of Singapore
Syed Farid Alatas, a Malaysian national, is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He also headed the Department of Malay Studies at NUS from 2007 to 2013. He lectured at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, in the Department of Southeast Asian Studies prior to joining NUS. His areas of interest are Islamic thought, the study of religion and reform, and intra- and inter-religious dialogue. His most recent books are Ibn Khaldun (Oxford University Press, 2013 and Applying Ibn Khaldun (Routledge, 2014). He is currently researching on the problem of Muslim extremism, with a focus on the so-called Salafi orientation. He also works on the related issue of sectarianism in Muslim societies.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Bin Mohd Nor

Mohd Roslan Mohd Nor is currently the Deputy Director (Research & Development) at the Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, Malaysia. Prior to that, he served as the Head of the Department of Islamic History and Civilization, at the same Academy. Dr. Roslan’s broad academic interests involve the Middle East, Islam and multi-culturalism, Muslim affairs, religious studies and civilization. He has published several academic articles in international refereed journals. Dr. Roslan participated in the Study of the United States Institute on Religious Pluralism, University of California Santa Barbara (2010), and has been a Visiting Scholar at different institutions such as Al-Maktoum Institute, Scotland (2009) and Minzu University, Beijing (2012-2013).
Dr. Aminurraasyid Bin Yatiban,
Institute of Excellence for Islamicjerusalem Studies, Universiti Utara Malaysia
Dr Aminurraasyid Yatiban is the first and current Director of the Institute of Excellence for Islamicjerusalem Studies at the University Utara Malaysia. He is also a Senior Lecturer at the School of International Studies, College of Law, Government and International Studies. He was previously a Senior Lecturer at University Malaysia Kelantan. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees for the Academy of Islamicjerusalem Studies (ISRA), United Kingdom. Dr Aminurraasyid get his PhD in Islamicjerusalem Studies from Al-Maktoum Institute, the University of Aberdeen in 2006. He also get his M.Litt with distinction from the same institution in 2003. He was earlier graduated from Al-Azhar University, Cairo in Islamic Jurisprudence (Syariah). In the UK, Dr Aminurraasyid was a Teaching Fellow at Al-Maktoum Institute, University of Aberdeen. As an academic, he is actively involved in several seminars and conferences nationally and internationally. He also actively contributes a few articles to scholarly refereed journals and had been appointed as a Member of the International Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of Islamicjerusalem Studies, UK. In 2005, he had been granted research fund to investigate historical treasures and manuscripts, which are relating to the relationship between Charlemagne and Harun al-Rashid as a model for the Muslim Concept of International Relations at Treasury Room, Munster, Reichenau Island, Germany and the Abbey Library (Stiftsbibliothek) of St. Gallen, Switzerland. Dr Aminurraasyid is active in giving motivational and religious talks nationally and internationally. He appears frequently on TV channels such as TV9, Alhijrah TV, Astro Awani, Ikim.FM Radio and Radio and TV Malaysia (RTM) as a panellist to discuss religious, academic, socio-political and international issues.
